Sutton
Community engagement and community politics are at
the very heart of what we do in Sutton. We are
ambitious for our borough and our residents. We want
to get better at listening and better at responding so
that everyone who wants to, can get involved in the way
that best suits them.
Cllr Ruth Dombey, Liberal Democrat deputy leader of the council
An enviable track record in consultation and engagement - an ambition to do more.
- The London Borough of Sutton has a long and successful history of effective community engagement that has led to improved outcomes for people who live, work and visit the borough. This is supported by a long track record (at 22 years the longest in London) of listening to our residents and getting feedback from them through our MORI resident surveys.
- This year Sutton plans to run an interactive conference and workshops and set up a targeted citizen's panel, based on the participants and volunteers who contributed to the 'Take Part, Take Pride' week (6th - 12th July).
- Sutton is going to:
- Build on existing excellent practice in the Borough on engagement
- Pilot new ways of citizen participation in policy and budgetary decisions
- Maintain an ongoing dialogue with key residents, opinion formers and networkers
- Use this momentum to promote being a councillor and the place-shaping role of the Council.
